Temple on the lake

Wuxi China
Buddha temple located south of Long Mountain, near Wuxi, China. I posted the same photo in black and white with coloring on the temple, this is the color version. It's always interesting how much difference either the color or lack of color can really change the feeling of a photograph.

Fishing Boats of Taiwan

Taiwan Fishing Boats...
I loved being in Kaohsiung Taiwan, the port was beautiful and so peaceful. I walked for hours, just taking in the local ambiance. The people of Taiwan are really warm and friendly, the food is greatness! I'm planing another trip, and this time I'm going to stay for a month and really explore the entire country and a few of the close islands.

Flying Tourist!

Flying tourist at Newport Beach, CA
What made this interesting to me, I noticed after I looked at the image, at a much later time. This tourist was with his girlfriend and I was shooting people playing in the surf, when I herd him say to her; let's see how high I can get my feet off the ground...I thought this might be interesting, I turned around and captured his second attempt! What made this image even more interesting was the lack of reaction from the people a few feet away in the background...then I remembered, this is Southern California, nothing fazes them. My caption was going to be...It's a bird, it's a plane, and it’s a flying tourist?

Crazy Horse!

Laguna Woods, CA- equestrian center
This horse looked crazy! We were at the equestrian center looking for a horse to ride, and a cowboy suggested this horse, I can't even remember his name. I just remember the eyes of this horse, and I thought to myself, there is now way in hell I'm getting on this horse! For the record I didn't :)

The Last Wave

The last wave of the summer at La Jolla Shores, CA
One of the saddest things while I was growing up in San Diego, CA was the end of my endless summers! Knowing that school was upon me, and my carefree days of hanging out in La Jolla, Ocean Beach, Torrey Pines, and Mission Beach were done and responsibility was going to rule my days for another nine months. This photo reminded me of those times and it’s a shame we all must grow up, even if it’s just for a while.

Giant Buddha

Ling Shan Giant Buddha,Wuxi China
Located south of the Long Mountain, near Wuxi's Mashan Town, the 88 metres (289 ft) tall Grand Buddha at Ling Shan  is one of the largest Buddha statues in China, and the ninth tallest statue worldwide. It's very impressive and the view of the valley at the top is worth the hike, it's amazing!

China Bus Ride

Outside Nanjing, China
We were on a bus tour through China, and this was leaving Nanjing after a long day of sightseeing. Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu province in Eastern China, having been the capital of China on several occasions. Its present name means "Southern Capital".  With an urban population of over seven million (2011), Nanjing is the second-largest commercial centre in the East China region after Shanghai, that is were we were headed next. Being one of the four ancient capitals of China, Nanjing has always been a cultural centre attracting intellectuals from all over the country. It's definitely worth the visit, we really enjoyed it, the art, food, and great local beer!

Temple Wuxi China

Buddha temple located south of Long Mountain, near Wuxi Mashan Town, China.

This beautiful building is on the same grounds as the Grand Buddha at Ling Shan. Wuxi is a major tourist area of the Lower Yangtze Delta. It has both natural and man-made places of interest.

Changing of the Gaurd in Taipei, Taiwan

Changing of the Guard in Taipei, Taiwan at the National Revolutionary Martyrs' Shrine.

Built on Chingshan Mountain and overseeing the Keelung River in Taipei's Zhongshan District in 1969. The architecture is beautiful, the history is significant in Taiwan’s past, honoring it's fallen soldiers, but the real show is the changing of the guard. Even though the first ceremony takes place around 9am, you will never be alone, it’s always crowded as you can see in my photo.  It’s a cool ceremony, rich in tradition, one that I would recommend to anyone that is able to experience it. After you enjoy the Shrine, across the street is a great little farmers market with really fresh fruit, yummy!

Rush Hour

Rush Hour in Tamsui District, Taiwan
This was taken in the Dunshui district, now known as the Tamsui district, or 45 mins north of Taipei, Taiwan. The district is home to three universities and has a large role in Taiwanese culture, with a great night market. I shot this right when I got off the train, I was walking and noticed how much traffic there was, but how many motor bikes and scooters there were, amazing! I love the depth of the image, how you can see so many people all at the same light waiting, but all in such different ways. This is why I love candid people images, I hope you like this as much as I do. I received the judges choice award from the S4C (Southern California Council of Camera Clubs) in the Travel/ Transportation division.
